Rusty Comment
Gate attendants are staffed via Atlantic Aviation as well. There are a select few JB employees in house such as the Station Manager, but 9/10 people servicing the JB flights are 3rd party contractors via Atlantic Aviation.
Editor’s comment: This bodes well in light of JetBlue employee cuts. At the same time does the rumor we hear that if we get more than 4 flights we need to staff JetBlue employees??

JetBlue to open its first airport lounges as CEO focuses on getting ‘back to profitability’
Good column think stuff like this bodes well for ORH and JetBlue
Let’s be real, JB is doing the Worcester thing for massport. They would love to fly right over us to Boston, 10 min longer. We need another airlines to make a splash. The JB cut backs could be real for ORH. Every time I fly JB I check the age of the plane, wow most average 17 years in age. JB has no presence in California and Vegas. JB focused on NY, Boston, Ft L, PalmBeach, Orlando. Passengers are protesting JB in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana because they suck. There delays run hours and hours. You need coast to coast flights that’s where the money is.
JetBlue’s attempt to purchase of spirit was to obtain 2 things: Newer planes, and gate slots at LAX and other west coast areas. That’s why it happened but it got messed up. JetBlue is still in the deal for now but the earnings meeting is in the morning and that may tell if JetBlue will still be in it or not once we find out how much money they lost/gained (expect a loss, Q4 other than Thanksgiving and Christmas is extremely dead and not a popular travel season especially since JetBlue operates a lot of seasonal routes till October that have very low flight loads like the cape at that time. Plus people are back in school and not traveling)
JetBlue did release something new that I have mixed feeling on. No matter the fare, the window and aisle seat of rows 6-9 and row 12 (rows 1-5 and 10-11 are even more space seats) if you want to sit in those seats cost an extra $8-$9 more because you’ll be off the plane first. I understand JetBlue is trying to make more $ but is it too excessive to make more money on? I think it’s smart because I want to be off the plane asap as soon as I reach my destination and people will pay for it but will it become something where in the future no matter what they’ll start charging and no longer have free seat selection?
I agree with getting off the plane first, because we travel with know luggage when we fly to FLL. Other people who fly with luggage would probably find the increase in the seat price to be a problem. I have Mosaic status, I don’t see a lot of value in Mosaic anymore. JB needs to fix Mosaic, example when JB starts to call people to board the plane, it’s a joke, people crowd the gate and mosaic means nothing. When I travel to my home in the Dominican Republic, their is value in Mosaic, the lines are long and you can avoid all of that.
I agree with the above comments, except that Jet Blue does have a decent presence in LAS from BOS. Half of the flights are mint, and there are several a day. Admitted,Ly, much fewer than pre-pandemic. The presence at LAX is laughable and I agree that or trans conflicts are necessary for local people.
I also agree that people like me that travel without luggage would pay for a seat to get off the plane more quickly. However, since I am mosaic, I don’t have to pay any fees. This seems to be the only benefit of Mosaic, because it was their case become much too easy to get. My flight this week, round-trip from BOS to RSW had nearly half the flight was Mosaic. Not much of a status for loyalty.
And yes, I had to use BOS because ORH flights cater nearly exclusively to leisure travelers. If ORH brought more flights (like the old 6am JFK flight) to the airport business would use it. The time savings, hassle free and convenience factor are more than worth whatever price differential there is for Logan even without the parking/car service costs at BOS
I have never had the perk of being bumped up for free to mint, which is a perk of the higher Mosaic status. I learned very quickly that I need to book directly anyway for a long flight if I want to be in it, so higher status Mosaic is worthless for the extra spend/miles flown.
I suspect that the current Mosaic strategy is to attract as many people into the loyalty program as possible, because loyalty programs in general 10 to keep people loyalty. It also gives you a treasure trove of information about each member in allows the airline to market directly to you.
This seems like a fast food strategy. For example, McDonald’s app gives away lots of free stuff, especially when you first sign up. That keeps customers using them versus their competitors which is I assume is Jet Blue’s strategy right now. How long this goes on will determine whether it drives higher level what is their customers to Delta, which has turned into an overall better experience it’s a risk they apparently feel they need to take to get marketshare. It could backfire with the highest spending customers though.
