Cranky Flier Must Read : JetBlue/Ichan

Read Time:24 Second

Final paragraph

As of now, we don’t know where this is going, but it should make people nervous. Had this happened under the previous regime, I would say it wasn’t a bad plan. The airline was rudderless and needed some kind of kick in the pants. But now with a new management team and the beginning of a plan, it would be a shame to see that effort cut off at the knees before it even begins.

  1. All of the JetBlue advertisements are gone from Polar Park. Anyone getting their hopes up about JetBlue expanding at ORH will be waiting a while. They’ve been here what, 11 years now with pretty much no expansion of service. They aren’t going above that 3 flight threshold that everyone talks about. I hope I’m wrong but their history here says otherwise. If we could get Delta or American to switch their flight schedules/destinations to hubs that would actually get you to more destinations then maybe the airport would be useful to more people, but as it currently sits, the potential customer base is limited.

I fly to West Palm Beach a lot and currently use TF Green most of the time with a random flight from Logan mixed in here and there. There’s no convenient way to get there from ORH. Flying Delta gets me in too late at night and flying American you have to make at least 2 stops to get there. Flying to Fort Lauderdale requires renting a car and driving or taking the train which adds another 60 to 90 minutes minimum to the trip. At that point I’d rather just drive to TF Green. I can get there in an hour from Worcester (146 to I-295) and even more importantly I can either get a nonstop flight or if that’s not an option I can still get a connecting flight early enough that I can be in West Palm Beach in time for lunch. ORH is unfortunately just not a viable option for most people.
