Great Comment

Read Time:1 Minute, 46 Second

It only took a couple of days, but once Breeze announced new service out of Pease, Allegiant added a new flight to Sarasota out of Pease.

Hello…. Massport??? Anyone home??? You are running ORH, or should I say D’Oh-RH into the ground. I will go ahead and say it that Massport taking over ORH has largely been a failure. It’s pretty clear that the only reason we have any service at all is because of some quid pro quo between the airlines and Massport to get what they want at Logan. Over the last year we have seen major service expansion at every other airport in New England. The last “new” service announcement we got at ORH was in April of 2023. Remember that big celebration that all the politicians showed up for??? And then 2 days later JetBlue quietly cancelled the JFK flights???

The fact of the matter is that there is a reason that airlines are staying away from ORH. The proximity to other airports excuse is lame. Manchester is 45 minutes from Pease and Pease is about 45 minutes from Portland, ME and all 3 now have service from Breeze and all 3 have now had significant expansion of service over the last year. I expect in the case of Manchester that you will see additional expansion from Avelo and Breeze as they compete with each other and Pease has Allegiant and Breeze competing with each other now so I expect additional expansion there as well. I also wouldn’t be entirely shocked if Breeze started flying out of Logan at some point.

If Massport really intended to make ORH a reliever airport to Logan we’d be way ahead of where we are now. As it is, I’ll continue giving my business to TF Green. I can get there in an hour +/- from my house in Worcester (146 to I-295) and parking is pretty cheap there ($14 per day in the Economy Lot) plus I can get to West Palm Beach early in the day as opposed to late at night out of ORH.

  1. Call Tim Murray, he should have a handle on the growth status. Lou E also sits on the board. I said this before, Boston Logan wants all the business. Remember when the city ran the airport, come on, it was a joke. The city can’t even fix the problems on the roads in the city. Look at that silly council, do you want them to run an airport. Can you imagine! Sell the airport to Prime air, Tesla, that would be the option.

    1. JetBlue just announced a major blow that they’re adding “mini mint” seats to their planes and sacrificing the above average legroom in coach for it. That’ll drop them from first to sixth for average legroom per seat only ahead of spirit and frontier. Huge downfall because for someone like me who’s 6’, I’d much rather fly on JetBlue than any other airline because of it and now since they’re getting rid of it, it won’t be worth it anymore. I think JetBlue is going to lose business because of it as well. I flew from Boston to Vegas on JetBlue and then on delta back and it was a huge difference on both airlines.

I had faith in the new CEO that there would be good changes but this is such a bad decision. I get it if it was half the aircraft but they’re doing this to ALL of them starting with the oldest ones and working their way to the newest. Now my confidence with the airline getting out of trouble is starting to dwindle

  2. JetBlue is cutting flight attendants hours. Putting them on unpaid leave. JB is cutting winter flights. The company sucks, the spirit deal destroyed them. I’m flying JB in two weeks to DR let’s see how it goes. I’m currently in Hawaii, just flew the 11 flight on Hawaiian airlines from Boston to Honolulu. Nice airlines, hot food, all the drinks and snack you want.
