The fact is that Massport’s quid pro quo arrangements with these airlines is crushing ORH.  Florida is clearly the most popular destination out of ORH, yet if I want to go anywhere in Florida other than Miami on American, I would have to make 2 connections as the only Florida destination American serves out of JFK is Miami.

In a perfect world, American would fly to DC or Charlotte out of ORH or even LaGuardia. Way more connection options with those airports.  Not sure who is making the decisions, but Massport must really be shaking these airlines down if they are sticking around with passenger loads less than 30%.

While virtually every airport in New England is growing, we get nothing but scraps.  I have 3 flights to West Palm Beach booked between now and February and while I would love to use ORH, you can’t get to West Palm Beach conveniently from ORH, so I am using other airports.

And don’t tell me to fly to Fort Lauderdale and rent a car or take the train.  That adds an hour plus to the trip and all else being equal, I’d rather just drive the hour on this end to Providence or Bradley and get to West Palm Beach earlier in the day.

  1. Fire the airport manager. He sucks clearly! Andy Davis is powerless, he must be the Massport puppet. Worcester should focus on FLL, Orlando, PBI, Tampa, PR. American to Atlanta or Charlotte NC. Delta to Atlanta or Chicago twice a day.

  2. I agree Andy Davis is powerless but if he’s fired, MassPort would just install another puppet.

    IMHO, unfortunately nothing would change.

  3. Spirit is on the verge of bankruptcy, it’s sad because the people are going to pay for this. The government (Elizabeth Warren ) should have let the merger go through. Now we have an airline on the verge of bankruptcy and another cutting routes (JetBlue). Discount airlines are a slow drip from being canceled. The legacy airlines pricing strategies are attracting different customers. Oh, I looked into flying Avelo from tweed to FLL, no reserve parking spots left on my dates. Parking is key!
