1. Allegiant expands in Boston and nothing for Worcester. We should at the least received a Worcester to St Pete flight seasonal or Tampa. Joke!

2. I’ve done day trips from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando and back on Brightline and it’s great! Unfortunately, they’re not the best at the moment cash wise but they’re working on it. High chance they declare bankruptcy to restructure but not expected to go under.

   JetBlue and Brightline have a partnership and you can book directly to Boca from Worcester but it raises the price a lot and it’s easier to just book it individually. The big mistake Brightline did though is not building a station at FLL airport which would’ve been extremely convenient for a lot of people.

   In regards to the new parking lot being added, I think that’s what ultimately was holding the airport from expanding. A lot of people are saying the only issue they have it is April which is because that’s the most flights but they can deal with that chaos for a month but no way can they do it for an entire year hence why the extra parking lot is being built. The airport won’t admit it but that can be very true. The plan for what it will look like is on their Facebook page

1. Paul, brightline owes 5.5 billion. Ticket sales are not covering the operating cost. They have the same problem JB has. Upper middle class and the wealthy probably won’t use brightline. I don’t think people who are buying properties at the mandarin oriental on federal in Boca are going to use the train. Do you know why delta makes money ? I will tell you why, it’s not people flying the airline, it’s the kick back from American Express. That’s a fact. Deltas customers have money and use the card for everything. South Florida is changing very fast. It a wealthy place to be. It’s not the middle class retirement place anymore. It’s the full time rich place to be. Condo fees and taxes doubled in the last two years. People landing in FLL going to Boca or lighthouse point where I own, have $$$.

3. A Tampa route seems like an obvious opportunity. Many travelers heading to the Tampa Bay area currently have to fly into Orlando and deal with the drive along I-4, which can be time consuming and unpredictable. A nonstop Tampa flight from ORH would provide a much more convenient option. Since JetBlue doesn’t appear interested in serving the market, maybe Breeze or Allegiant should consider stepping in.

4. I don’t know what is neglected more Worcester Airport or the UMass athletic program. Both have so much potential but it’s almost like they have leaders who try as hard as they can to make sure they fail and never succeed!

5. 2 things within the last week have been announced/updated.

   First, Worcester airport has found Andrew Davis’s replacement. Matthew Elia is taking over who has a history of running smaller municipal airports so we’ll see what he can bring to Worcester and lead it in the right direction. There’s articles online about it.

   Second, the new parking lot C is replacing the extension that was made in the upper lot 3 years ago. The FAA gave them a 3-4 year agreement for it and that expires at the end of the year supposedly so this new lot makes sense. I know Davis wasn’t a fan of shuttles when he was there so it’ll be interesting to see if there’s a small shuttle added or if they’ll have people walk. It’s not a far walk but it isn’t a walk people will want to do
