Editor’s note: If this is true?? That ridiculous
Atlantic Aviation is on-site and provides maintenance support to both American and Delta. JetBlue however, is very cheap and does not want to pay for those services. They instead dispatch maintenance from Boston. How does that make any sense?

JetBlue is the one that needs it the most. They have the biggest planes that land at ORH and when your 1,000 ft above elevation, it makes a huge difference when landing or taking off. To put in perspective, when I flew out of Vegas 3 weeks ago, the delta A321 we were in took about 10,000 ft of the 14,000 ft runway to take off. Yes it was 30-40° warmer there and 1,000 ft higher than ORH but the elevation change makes a difference when taking off and landing. American could take off on the 5,000 ft runway and has before, delta not 100% sure but I know it doesn’t need all 7,001 ft of the main runway to take off. I could get into full detail about it but know since the air is thinner as you go higher in elevation, the planes have reduced drag resulting in more runway needed to take off.
With the mechanic thing too, you have a flight that lands at rush hour and leaving Boston usually can take up to 2+ hours to go from Boston to Worcester. If paying an extra $5-$10 meant I had a mechanic staffed at ORH, I’d much rather pay that than wait
December, 2022 I was on the morning flight to JFK and our flight was delayed because the pilot saw rock salt in the engine during his walk around. Fortunately, it was a Saturday morning and traffic was light but we were still delayed by over 2 hours. A JetBlue pickup arrived from Logan. I know this because the gate agent announced to all the passengers that maintenance was coming in from Boston, and everyone looked at each other like WTF.
Spirit is going up scale because they can’t compete with the legacy airline’s. The budget days could be in trouble. Let’s face it, people can’t afford to fly. A week in FLL for two with air fair, hotel, food is $7500 it’s just not in the cards for the hard working middle class. Spirit is going to give unlimited snacks, booze, and bags.
