Paulie’s Comment

I’m going to add to Rusty’s comment, the change for JFK takes place 6/15. The flight will be 1x a day. Leave JFK at 8pm and get to ORH at 9:16pm then leave ORH at 9:51pm and get to JFK at 11:00pm. The change will be in effect till 10/29. The good news is american will have a mid day flight still for those wanting to get to JFK for a mid day flight and if the alliance is still on between JetBlue and American, it’s sometimes the cheapest option to go ORH to JFK on American then JFK to wherever on JetBlue. When 10/29 comes, American will go to a similar schedule that delta currently has now with their flight to LGA.

Remember this is all subject to change and can change. Just like we’ve seen w the A320 for the FLL flight which went from being only 3 months to the permanent aircraft.

David mentioned about the flight cuts and this seems to be one of them. But if Rusty is right and we lose a JFK flight to have it go somewhere else, it might be a good thing especially if it’s Orlando again.

Also data for November 2022 flights are out for seat utilization (how much of the flight is loaded). (Percentage in parentheses is difference compared to October) (Source: AviationDB.net)

ORH-JFK
American: 34% (+4%)
JetBlue: 58% (+7%)

JFK-ORH
American: 25% (+6%)
JetBlue: 53% (+3%)

ORH-LGA
Delta: 42% (-5%)

LGA-ORH
Delta: 45% (-2%)

ORH-FLL
JetBlue: 80% (+3%)

FLL-ORH
JetBlue: 79% (+9%)

American and Delta’s numbers are not good. JetBlue’s JFK flight is ok but the FLL flight is doing amazing. 162 seat aircraft is averaging 129.6 seats booked per flight (remember the E190 only holds 100 seats) so essentially ever since the upgrade to aircraft happened, it would’ve sold out and oversold every flight if the E190 still did the flight. That could be what JetBlue is seeing and potentially bringing a Florida flight whether it’s Tampa, Fort Myers, or Orlando, it should do extremely well.

  1. The current flights and schedules are terrible unfortunately. I am trying to book a flight to Cancun or Dominican Republic in July and there are no options from Worcester under 10 hours. All the flights have 6hr+ layovers. What’s the point of these new schedules in the summer if we can’t make any good connections?

  2. Just heard on Spectrum News that there will be an announcement on Monday regarding a new route from Worcester. It said it will be Jetblue and it will be a route that they have NOT previously flown to from Worcester so maybe a Florida Gulf Coast destination???

    1. Can confirm that ^^ while there isn’t anything online about it, it is confirmed on the show in the spectrum news in 90 seconds. The governor as well as city and state officials will be in Worcester and the CEO of JetBlue is expected be in Worcester for the announcement. The destination is unknown but since it’s where JetBlue hasn’t flown out of Worcester before, it unfortunately will not be Orlando.

Fort Myers, Tampa, West Palm Beach, and San Juan are possible Florida contenders as those destinations fly out of Providence and/or Bradley. If it’s a non Florida destination but still a vacation destination,
Charleston SC can be a potential fit as well.

If it’s going to be a connecting airport destination (like JFK), DCA would be the best contender because Logan has hourly flights from Boston to DCA and with the Northeast Alliance with American, a lot of routes that JetBlue and American have created, have been because of that partnership and DCA is a huge hub for American Airlines. I did Boston to DCA then DCA to Orlando on JetBlue back in January and it was not bad at all connecting and was extremely easy to go from the first flight to the next.

We’ll see in the morning or afternoon what the route is, hopefully it’s one that is to a vacation destination since we all know those have a lot more success than connecting airports.

  3. On another note, I was at Polar Park last week an noticed that Jetblue is going all in on advertising there. There is a section above right field called the Jetblue Hangar and there is a large Jetblue logo on the side right field wall that also says “Fly Worcester”.

  4. So the report on Spectrum News says that the new destination is one they haven’t flown to out of Worcester before but I just was pricing flights from Worcester to Orlando for next January 3rd – 10th and it is showing a nonstop flight to Orlando out of ORH on Jetblue so it appears the Orlando flight is coming back. Maybe Spectrum News has incorrect information.
