Editor’s comment: Now this would have been an interesting column in the Telegram today. Talking about what we need to make ORH a better airport.???
Again, not enough flight options for passengers to choose from. The flight options available are very limited and connections are almost non-existent for ORH passengers. Planning a Caribbean vacation, and cannot use ORH due to flight availability, will have to go thru Logan. I’d much rater use ORH every time I fly, as it is very convenient… and that is not just me, I hear it all the time about people that wish we had more flights out of ORH so they would not have to go thru Logan or Providence.

American Flight
We agree that if there were some schedule changes, this flight could be successful. If there are no changes planned,...
This was why the old Fort Lauderdale schedule was extremely convenient. Had 2 benefits:
First, If you flew down to FLL from ORH, you had the entire day down there instead of landing in the afternoon or evening and losing a day. If you flew back to Worcester you still had that entire day in Fort Lauderdale and didn’t have to be at the airport until 6pm that day.
Second, when I took the flight in 2022 back when it was the schedule above with an early morning departure and essentially midnight arrival back to Worcester, one thing I found out was for a lot of people, FLL was a layover for another flight to the Carribean.
A family member of mine owns a condo in Pompano Beach (which is directly north of Fort Lauderdale) and I go down to Florida 2-3 times a year, we both wish that the schedule I mentioned was still around today because it was so nice where you could be on the beach by noon the day you landed and be on the beach till 5pm no issue the day you left. Now it stinks because you feel like you lose the day you arrive since you land at 730, get off the plane, get bags and Uber or rental car around 745/800, then your at your hotel/condo by 830/900 but then if you have to go to the grocery store, that’s what you do for the brief time your down there for the first day now or you wait till the morning and lose time on your 2nd day.
Summer time is going to be a mess too unfortunately. I don’t say that because I want the flights to be bad and whatnot, I say that because I remember last summer there were so many times the Orlando flight was delayed because of storms in the area and couldn’t take off because of their slot to enter a route to fly being 3+ hours later than scheduled and the Orlando flight has the same schedule this summer. Usually the time thunderstorms happen in Orlando is the same time the flight from Worcester is supposed to land. Fort Lauderdale usually is alright but it’ll be interesting to see how the on time performance is. Should be an interesting summer
