Return Trip From FLL
As noted here the Sunday flight never got out, after waiting 11 hours.
The only seats available next to fly JetBlue FLL to Worcester was Wednesday. They needed to be back earlier. Put serious thought into flying West Palm to Tweed Monday night with Avelo, but ended up doing West Palm to Providence with JetBlue Tuesday.
Now I know there will be comments that there were alot of cancellations, etc. The point of this post is that if we still had two JetBlue flight to JFK, there would have been alot of possibilities to get back to ORH not come home through New Haven or Providence. We would have been much better off losing the anemic Delta and American flights, while keeping the the two JetBlue flights to JFK.
BTW my family saw at least 10 people that were waiting with them Sunday on the Tuesday West Palm to Providence flight.

Orlando is definitely more popular than FLL for the airport although both flights do extremely well. This isn’t a surprise...
The CEO of Massport just mentioned in a news conference to give yourself 2 EXTRA hours of travel time because of the tunnel being closed starting next Wednesday. Meaning, if I’m traveling from Worcester. I live right next to ORH and it takes me about an hour and 15 minutes to get to Logan. So if I have a 12pm flight out of Logan, I want to get there usually at 10am so I want to leave around 830/845 but now they’re suggesting 630/645am and that doesn’t include rush hour traffic to Boston. That’s 5 1/2 hours before my flight.
I flew out of Logan back in January. Flew down to Orlando because I wanted to make a brief stop in DCA to meet up with someone else I was going down with on a different flight plus it was $70 for the blue extra fare (JetBlue Black Friday Sale). I had a 10am flight out of Boston, so what I did was I took the 630am express train out of union station, got to south station at 735am and then took the silver line bus to the airport. $15 and I was there in 90 minutes. That’s the best option for Worcester residents if they want to fly out of Logan. If you were flying into Boston and coming back to Worcester, you could do the opposite of that and either have someone pick you up at union station or take the city bus for free.
If you want the convenience, Worcester obviously will remain the best choice. Low security lines and cheap parking. However, with the current flight schedule of the Florida flights, it’s been causing problems. Not 100% sure the reason why but one good reason is a lot of people know that Florida summer weather is thunderstorm essentially every day and that’s been causing problems for these flights to leave ORH. When your flights are expected to land at Orlando around 5pm and Fort Lauderdale 7pm, those are prime times for thunderstorms to occur down in Florida. It’s why the flights to ORH are arriving on time but leave are causing issues. I remember yesterday at the airport the American flight left the gate at 100pm (on time) but didn’t take off until 230pm because NYC is a nightmare to fly into because of ATC shortages. Delta has been cancelled the last 2 days so can’t report on that. Hasn’t been fun if you’re trying to fly out of ORH lately.
If people run into the issue of these flights like what happened Sunday and want to be safe than sorry, they need to fly into or out of Bradley or Providence or New Haven. You’ll have to drive but if you fly out of there and your first flight gets cancelled, at least you have multiple options and Miami and West Palm Beach are only an hour from FLL so you can at least get down there still.
It’ll be interesting to track over the next week with it being 4th of july how the flights do. JetBlue will be the big one to watch because 162 people getting their flights delayed or cancelled is a huge deal for the airlines and passengers and is a lot more problematic for both the people flying and the airline
