JetBlue Cancellations

Read Time:36 Second

Looking back Dave Barger was a good leader for JetBlue, Robin Hayes not so much. Getting away from their core business and Spirit merger really set JetBlue back. Now they need to cut unprofitable routes and get back to basics (focus on NorthEast).

Complain about Massport not doing more with ORH, but I got to say if not for Massport there could have been a chance we have lost JetBlue. Now that we still have them could maybe JetBlue actually bring more flights to ORH?

Got alot of faith in new leadership–Joanna and Marty. That said the next 12 month could be very rocky run for JetBlue. Maybe this could work out for ORH???

  1. Can you post the JB loads from Worcester,? This week looks like a lot of open seats. I’m flying from FLL to SDQ on Friday and JB went from an airbus a320 to a220 and the plane has 35 available seats as of today July 8. People don’t have the $$$

  2. Good to see some new posts. Not good that it has been over two years since there has been any new service added at ORH. I moved back to Worcester 5 years ago and have flown 4 or 5 times a year since then so about 20 flights +/- over the past 5 years. Have not taken a single flight out of ORH. We actually have to go to the Orlando area in August and figured it would be a great opportunity to fly out of ORH. That idea didn’t last long as it would have been close to $1,400 for two roundtrip tickets. Didn’t appear to be due to limited seat availability either as more than half the plane had seats available to pick from when booking. Ended up getting a flight out of Logan for $240 each roundtrip on Delta. I’m all for paying a bit more for convenience but $1,000 more is a no go. Not sure what is going on at ORH or if there is any plan. I drive on Goddard Memorial Drive several times a week and will sometimes detour up Airport Drive and most of the time it’s a ghost town up there. The parking lots are rarely more than 1/3 to 1/2 full. Nice to see that the city is paving the lower end of Goddard Memorial Drive finally. I’m really starting to think that a lack of direct access is killing this airport. What else could it possibly be??? I read somewhere that Logan had 43 million passengers in 2024. Logan doesn’t have an infinite amount of space to continue growing so at some point I have to imagine they’ll top out. I have a client in Chelsea that I have to visit usually once a week and there are literally cars parked in the medians and under the overpasses at Logan. Basically, anywhere they can park a car, they are parking them. Logan Express in Framingham is undergoing a major expansion also. JetBlue is operating in the red and says they won’t be profitable again this year. I don’t see any new service coming anytime soon. I wish the American flight to Philly was earlier. As with the Delta flight to LaGuardia it’s too late in the day so you either miss most connections or arrive at your final destination way too late at night.

  3. Load factors for the JB flights to start 2025 were in the 75-90% range for the first 4 months of 2025. People have to remember with JetBlue when it comes to flying that all seats are available to purchase however it doesn’t show the true amount of tickets booked because a lot of people don’t pay for a seat assignment and don’t get assigned to it till check in (I’ve purchased upgraded seats and moved seats less than 2 hours before a flight before)

In regards to the other comment, $1400 for round trip looked to be right for the weekend flights. You have to remember in August it’s also the time where college students move in and they fly on weekends so parents can be there to help then go home Sunday. Minus the 6 that are actually in Worcester that have dorms (WPI, Worcester State, Clark, Holy Cross, Assumption, MCPHS) it doesn’t include colleges like Fitchburg State, Anna Maria, and other schools that are close by where you can fly into Worcester. Also, historically speaking from going up to Maine for years, the last week of July and first week of August are the busiest for vacationers. With the airplane looking half empty, like I said previously you can book any seat you want and they won’t start to be blocked off until 24 hours before departure.

I’ve flown to and from Florida 7 times since 2021 and every time but twice I’ve flown into or out of ORH with both times being because it was the winter and a Wednesday so they didn’t have flights and had to fly to Logan. There’s only been one time where I’ve booked the blue fare (the ones that comes w free seat selection and at the time before everyone had it a free carry on) and never spent more than $250 round trip. I always book ahead of time and try to capitalize on deals but even when there isn’t deals, you can book currently for $134 on blue basic for the fall.
