10 thoughts on “America’s Fallen Cities: Worcester

  1. I don’t have time to watch/listen to this because the Patriots game is about to begin but if it’s a fallen city, why is it the fastest growing city in New England by far.

  2. 60% of the people in Worcester are on some type of federal assitance. Its all because BOSTON is too expensive , so they come to Worcester.

  3. Show me the facts that 60% of Worcester residents are on some sort of federal assistance.

The naysayers always quote things and never seem to be able to back them up with actual statistics.

  4. I put this up without really have an opinion. Just thought it was very interesting and worth your time. Very surprised to se 39,000 followers for this page

  5. 55,000 are on snap, 7,000 are in section 8 housing and 22,000 have voucher and are waiting for a place to open up, that number does not include the people living in the federal and state subsidies housing already like great brook valley.I will get more numbers like ssdi, raft, home plate assistance ect.

  6. Provide reputable links for these numbers. You can’t just say them without backing them up with statistics from a government website.

    1. Also, if they are on section 8, they are on all of the other programs, don’t double count the same people. These sound like some made up trump numbers.

  7. Also, SSDI is not public assistance, SSI is public assistance, don’t confuse your terminology. I used to work for SSA, if they are on SSI, they will also be on SNAP and section 8. So, let’s go with the largest number you provided which is SNAP of 55,000 you say. If they’re on SNAP that will cover everyone without double counting! The population of Worcester is 211,286. 55,000/211,286 that is 26% of Worcester is on assistance a far cry from 60%.

  8. Lastly, I see where you came up with the SNAP number, you did a google search which results in 53,368 not 55,000. So, the percentage is even lower, = 25% not 60%.
