Business Traveler Comment

I agree with the above comments, except that Jet Blue does have a decent presence in LAS from BOS. Half of the flights are mint, and there are several a day. Admitted,Ly, much fewer than pre-pandemic. The presence at LAX is laughable and I agree that or trans conflicts are necessary for local people.

I also agree that people like me that travel without luggage would pay for a seat to get off the plane more quickly. However, since I am mosaic, I don’t have to pay any fees. This seems to be the only benefit of Mosaic, because it was their case become much too easy to get. My flight this week, round-trip from BOS to RSW had nearly half the flight was Mosaic. Not much of a status for loyalty.

And yes, I had to use BOS because ORH flights cater nearly exclusively to leisure travelers. If ORH brought more flights (like the old 6am JFK flight) to the airport business would use it. The time savings, hassle free and convenience factor are more than worth whatever price differential there is for Logan even without the parking/car service costs at BOS

I have never had the perk of being bumped up for free to mint, which is a perk of the higher Mosaic status. I learned very quickly that I need to book directly anyway for a long flight if I want to be in it, so higher status Mosaic is worthless for the extra spend/miles flown.

I suspect that the current Mosaic strategy is to attract as many people into the loyalty program as possible, because loyalty programs in general 10 to keep people loyalty. It also gives you a treasure trove of information about each member in allows the airline to market directly to you.

This seems like a fast food strategy. For example, McDonald’s app gives away lots of free stuff, especially when you first sign up. That keeps customers using them versus their competitors which is I assume is Jet Blue’s strategy right now. How long this goes on will determine whether it drives higher level what is their customers to Delta, which has turned into an overall better experience it’s a risk they apparently feel they need to take to get marketshare. It could backfire with the highest spending customers though.

  1. American should adjust their schedule to JFK and add 1 flight: 6am departure to JFK and 10pm return to ORH.

  2. Great news for New Haven but I would hope they’re aggressively trying to woo other airlines. What’s that old saying, “don’t put all of your eggs in one basket”.

  3. Avelo airlines knows Worcester Airport well, they leased jet’s to direct airways through xtra airways. Avelo has had many names before the current name Avelo. I would rather see Worcester Airport go after an airline that has a major presence. United may be the next target, they have 100 new panes arriving soon and they want an east coast to southeast presence. The news out is United is going to create a hub in Orlando.

  4. United’s new planes are coming in because of their old planes. United is pissed with Boeing and Airbus is looking at JetBlue and other airlines to delay deliveries so they can possibly get more planes delivered. United was going the same route as Alaska was with being all Boeing until the issues came up the first time with the Boeing planes and plane delays and they ultimately ordered the A321neo.

In regards to a new airline at ORH, someone can correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure ORH is stuck at the moment with what they got. American is at gate 1, JetBlue currently has gates 2 and 3, Delta gate 4. Gates 5 and 6 are unoccupied but would require stairs to get too. Avelo is an airline that doesn’t use jet bridges to save money but I don’t see them coming to ORH anytime soon (for now). JetBlue May give back gate 3 until December when the fort myers flight returns (which you can book tickets now for btw) but still usually the only airline that uses gate 3 is JetBlue because they have 2 planes that go to Worcester.

Another issue though is (come back to this comment 6 months from now) the Florida schedule for the summer sucks. In the summer last year, the Orlando flight would often arrive on time but get delayed quite a bit due to thunderstorms in Florida or on the east coast and although the 2 JetBlue flights were scheduled about 2 hours apart from being at ORH, it was common to see them together in the summer months because of it. Fort Lauderdale usually would luck out with it but the Orlando flight would always get stuck and there were two times where they went down and had to divert to other airports because of ground stops and delays with letting other planes land. Hope I’m wrong but I doubt I will be. And in case you ask how to fix it, leave ORH early in the morning and come back late at night just like the JFK flight did and what the FLL flight did as well when it came back in 2021

  5. Taking at least one flight every month for the next few, may need to add in more because Zoom may not cut it.

The next two are long cross country flights and I am forced to use BOS as there aren’t any credible alternatives (really no alternatives to get in on time for a board meeting).

I’ll report back on the percent of Mosaic fliers on each. The first os likely to be a business flight so I expect a majority of passengers to be Mosaic in this JetBlue flight.

The next is Jet Blue to Vegas in a few weeks. Full flight according to the sear map (or very close to full this early as not everyone selects seats when booking). Mint flight. I didn’t risk the free Mosaic bump up and bought those seats

I’ve definitely arrived at the conclusion that anything above Mosaic 2 on JetBlue isn’t worth the extra spend. I’m 3 (or4?) this year and see no additional benefits that I will use.

I have been adding in some Delta from BOS given my Mosaic status comments and the experience in a regular seat is better than JB from what I’ve taken. I have yet to try a connection from ORH to LaGaurdia. I try to never connect during the winter, it has yet to go right for me. The increased risk of cancellation/delay/ missed connections is too high, especially in major busy airports. Don’t even consider it if it’s free if you check luggage.
